“And He took the seven loaves and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples to set before them … so they ate and were filled and they took up seven large baskets of leftover fragments. Now those who had eaten were about four thousand.” (Mark 8:6, 8–9).

How God Resets Us for Multiplication and Miracles

A few days ago, I read the account of Jesus’s miracle of feeding the 4,000 (Mark 8:1–9). The crowd had been with Him for three days and He knew they were out of food and would be faint with hunger as they returned home. When He stated His compassion for the multitude, the twelve future leaders of the church responded in typical human thinking—basically saying there just wasn’t any bread out there in the wilderness.

Jesus then went ahead and did the miracle. First, He asked them how much bread they did have, which was seven loaves. He thanked His Heavenly Father for what surely seemed to the disciples a pitifully small amount. After thanking His Father, He began to break the bread and gave it to the disciples for distribution. He did the same thing with “a few small fish” (8:7).

The whole miracle hinged on Jesus’s being thankful for the little that they had. The next morning on MPP (Monday, April 5), the Lord gave a word about “reset.” To me, it’s becoming very clear—I am not to be like the disciples and focus on what I don’t have, or on how big the problem is. Rather, I must focus on what the Lord has already provided and given me. I must thank Him for it. When I do, then He takes over and He blesses.

Now is the time of moving in God’s supernatural power like never before. The Lord wants us to move into miracles. He wants us to have more fire. He wants us to have more anointing, more passion, and more zeal. Most of us desperately want these things as well. But our problem is our thinking. Often, we think just like the disciples: “Yes, there are seven loaves here, but that’s not nearly enough for 4,000 people.” Or, “Yes, I have some faith, but not really enough for miracles.” Or, “Yes, I have some anointing, but it’s not quite enough…”

That is wrong. We must be thankful for what we already have; for what He has already given us.

Jesus took those same seven loaves and thanked God for them. He then blessed them and they multiplied. We can and must do the same. Thank God for what you have, then bless it, and watch Him multiply it and bless it further.

Thank God for the anointing you have; thank him for the faith you have. Then bless it and use it. Then watch it multiply and grow.

Thanks for praying. Be blessed.

Just a few more days are left in this first month, Nissan. Be sure to be in praise. Be sure to walk and think with a triumphant, “high hand” (Num. 33:3). Nissan is also connected with the tribe of Judah, which means “praise.” Let this be a month of extra praise as we follow the Lord into all He has for us. (Blessings for the month of Nissan may be found here.)
